VMware vCenter Converter Client, developed by VMware, Inc., is the graphical console for VMware vCenter Converter that streamlines workload migration into VMware environments. It lets administrators create, monitor, and manage physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) conversions through an intuitive, step-by-step wizard. You can convert powered-on Windows or Linux machines, existing VMware virtual machines, and supported third-party disk images into VMware VMs.
The client connects to a local or remote Converter server and can target vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, or VMware Workstation/Fusion. During conversion, you can customize CPU and memory, choose thin or thick disk formats, resize volumes, map networks, and adjust services and drivers to optimize the destination VM. It supports hot cloning to minimize downtime and allows you to queue and run multiple conversions in parallel, with detailed progress indicators and logs for troubleshooting. Optional post-conversion reconfiguration, including VMware Tools installation, helps ensure the new VM is ready for use.
